The situation

Holstein Flowers grows gerberas across eleven hectares of greenhouse on two sites, making it the largest gerbera grower in the EU. Trade runs through the auction and through direct customers, with availability and prices that change by the day.

The daily buying and selling work was stuck in loose files and retyping: updating greenhouse stock, adjusting container prices, copying sales windows and setting them per customer. Error-prone work, and it has to happen at exactly the busiest hours of the day.

What we built

A purchasing dashboard that manages greenhouse stock, container prices and customer settings from one place. The interface is deliberately plain, so everyone in the office can use it without reading a manual first.

Copying and adjusting sales windows now takes a few clicks instead of manual work. Through the connections to Floriday and Blits, product information and price changes flow in automatically and in real time, so Holstein always works with current market information.

The hard part: eight weeks, and it had to be right immediately

The challenge was not the technology but the pace and the precision. A grower cannot wait two weeks for a price change to come through, and a mistake in a container price carries into every order that day.

So we built the piece that removed the most manual work first, put it live, and expanded from there. Eight weeks passed between the first conversation and delivery, with a compact team working directly alongside the people in the office.

What happened next

The system grows with the season: new sales windows, extra customer settings and additional connections are added on the same platform.

From retyping to an overview.

The dashboard has become the starting point of the day: stock, prices and customer settings sit in one place and the connections do the rest. Changes to the process are made on the platform, without needing a new project for it.

Is your manual work also stacked on the busiest hours of the day?

More often than not there is a working piece live in weeks, rather than a project that runs for months.
