The people you can just pick up the phone and call.
RUAL has been around since 2010 and has grown into a team of 25 specialists: developers, consultants and designers. Small enough to know each other, big enough to build everything ourselves.
Executive team
On board from the start, and still the ones you get on the phone.
Pick a name to read what this colleague can help you with.
René van Sweeden
Managing Partner
Founder, final say, and the architect of Core.
Founded RUAL and sits on the board: the last call is his, from the technical direction to the financial one. Works end to end on Core and on the other products we build, and leads the engineering team building alongside him. Designs the infrastructure it all runs on and is on the floor when it goes in: the racks in the data centre, the server setup, the Ceph clusters and the automation around them, built with the team. Keeps the day-to-day business running, brings in new ideas, and is the reason this is a team rather than a set of specialists.
What to call René about
- Where RUAL is going, and any decision that has to be settled
- The architecture of Core and the products on it, from first sketch to release
- The infrastructure design: racks, server setup, Ceph clusters and automation
- New concepts and prototypes, from idea to working version
- Commercial and financial agreements
More builder than networker: on any given day he is in the code, in the racks, or at the table with a customer.
Dominique Henkes
Senior Partner, Infrastructure & Security
On site with customers, and the security of every environment.
Does consultancy at customers: working out what a setup has to do, and what it has to withstand, before anything is built. Guards the network side of it afterwards, ours and theirs alike: firewalls, access, segmentation and what is allowed to talk to what. Assesses new technology before it reaches customers, and is our data protection officer.
What to call Dominique about
- Consultancy on site: what a customer's setup has to do
- Firewalls, network setup and secure access
- The security and the health of a customer environment
- Privacy and data protection (DPO)
Good chance you will run into this colleague on site or at a local event.
Jasper van der Wulp
Junior Partner, Engineering & Brand
The technology on your own floor: robot cells, vision, AI and software.
Works on the technical side of customer projects: automation on the floor, robot cells, vision and AI, and the consultancy on the process and the software around it. Takes it from the first test setup through to a line running in production, and picks up a fix in Core when a project he is on needs one. Builds and maintains this website as well, the server behind it included, and owns brand, marketing and PR: how RUAL sounds to the outside.
What to call Jasper about
- Robotics, vision and AI inside a customer project
- Automation on the shop floor
- The technical delivery of an implementation
- Consultancy on the process and the software around it
- Brand, marketing and PR, and this website itself
If a robot, an AI experiment or a new page on this site turned up somewhere, it usually started here.
Sami Bouchagratan
Junior Partner, Engineering
From the first conversation to the finished build, at customers and across the group.
Sits in on the first conversation and stays on once the building starts, so what is agreed at the table is what gets made, with no translation step in between. Does the same end to end for the other companies within Deverence Group, taking a project from its first outline through to something people work with every day. Keeps the documentation behind this website current alongside it.
What to call Sami about
- A first conversation and the outline of a project
- What does and does not fit on Core
- Building the environment that comes out of it
- End-to-end work for the other companies in Deverence Group
- The documentation behind this website
The first person you speak to, and not the last: this colleague stays involved long after the introduction.
Suzanne Tersteeg
Director Finance, Consultant
Consultancy at the customer: settling together what gets built.
Sits down at the customer to work out what actually has to be built, down to the detail, thinking it through with them rather than writing down what was asked for. That precision is what you see in the result: software that still stands years later and still does what was agreed. Sets up financial processes and administration with the same exactness, at customers and here.
What to call Suzanne about
- Consultancy on site: settling together what gets built
- Financial processes and administrative setup
- Anticipating what a customer will need next
- A delivery that still holds up years later
Good chance you meet this colleague as soon as we start working together.
Marvin Bouma
Associate, Operations
Keeps the day-to-day running smoothly.
Runs office operations, coordinates logistics and supports the team wherever needed. Also the driving force behind the development of Studio.
What to call Marvin about
- Office operations and logistics
- The development of Studio
- An environment colleagues and customers can rely on
Practical and everywhere at once: if something needs arranging, this role is already on it.
Engineering

And 20 more colleagues. Developers, consultants and designers. You will meet them soon enough at the office or on the floor.
Come and visitWho you will be sitting across from
Three disciplines, one team. Who you speak to depends on where your project stands.
Consultancy
Thinking through your process before a single line is built: what genuinely needs to change, and what can stay as it is.
